Filming for Brut at Jeuf Zone Farm: in the fields with Thione Niang

We had the opportunity to visit Jeuf Zone Farm, the agricultural school founded by Thione Niang, as part of a filming project for Brut. The school welcomes young people from across the African continent to train them in agricultural professions. The aim of the filming was to document this grassroots initiative, far removed from stereotypes and focusing on the day-to-day work.

On site, Thione Niang himself gets his hands dirty alongside the trainees in the farm's fields. For this type of report, our role is to capture scenes of real work, without excessive staging: the gestures, the exchange between generations, the rhythm of the harvest days. It is this authenticity that gives strength to content like this, conceived for a media outlet like Brut.

Beyond the filming itself, this project perfectly illustrates the type of assignment we enjoy covering in Dakar: stories about agriculture, youth, and knowledge transfer, with a real underlying message behind the image. A student from Jeuf Zone Farm, pictured here in front of a mural at the school, embodies this human dimension that we always strive to capture, whether for an international media outlet or a local institution.
